Sept. 24, 2011 Here comes Fall!

Life takes many twists and turns.  The weather does the same thing and so do our bodies. I thought I was improving so well. I have some difficulties with my knees and I had just exercised and both of my knees were feeling quite well.

I was told by my exercise partner that I better remember to go back down to my basement and lift weight so I didn't forget it.  So after she left, I was in a hurry to finish the "job".  I started down the stairs(now you see where this is going?)  I began a little faster than I should have and ended up either tripping on my own foot or skipping a step.

I ALMOST fell but caught myself.  However, I twisted my left knee in the process.  PAIN!  Well, when I said, "Twist!"  I was thinking of my knee.  It was very painful and I couldn't bend it for about three days.  This happened in the evening.

I went to my medical doctor the next day just to get medication, but he felt I should see the orthopedic surgeon for a diagnosis just in case I really did some damage.  I saw a young woman doctor since my surgeon was not available but she took x-rays and said it was not cracked or broken and that I could receive a cortisone shot or choose to wait and see if it improved.  I chose to wait.

It is improving!!!  I can now bend it some.  I am rehab-ing on my stationary recumbent bike.  Hopefully I'll be able to start biking on railroad trails again soon. I love the fall leaves. Well, enjoy your "Fall".  The weather is what I am referring to. Happy slicing! :o)

September 11, 2011 Where has time gone?

Just had to get on and make a comment because I haven't been on. I have started back to school for about a month and have just not been on my blog but thought it was high time I started up again.

Between school and my elderly parents, I haven't given it much thought.  I will.  I am now making a commitment to my students and myself to write on this blog.  My students don't know it yet, but they will.

I have a wonderful class this year and look forward to working with and learning with them. Summer is approaching the end and the slice of life Tuesdays are here. So I better get busy. I look forward to hearing from you and reading your journeys.  Happy slicing! :o)
