Last day of February!

I'm gearing up to write everyday for the month of March.  I am taking the challenge to write a slice of life.  I'll connect to this site:  http://twowritingteachers.wordpress.com/ . I'll be back on this evening.  I need to go. I'm exercising with a friend! I'm back! Just had the chance to skype with my daughter and grandson!  It was so much fun!  He is so energetic and talked to us while he was playing.  He is putting sentences together and singing.  I could watch him all evening but it was time for them to go! Of course I do have to work too. Tomorrow is our first day of our proficiency testing so I want to be prepared so i plan to read my examiner's manual so I'll have to stop for today.  Have a great evening!

Feb. 27, 2011 Sunday

Yesterday I spent with my parents.  They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past week.  My mom had the opportunity to go watch my brother's daughter, my niece and her granddaughter play basketball for University of Akron at Miami University in Ohio. So my husband and I went down to stay with my dad for the day. Dad has Parkinson's disease and he isn't really himself these days, so his mind comes and goes.  We have to watch for those special moments when we get a glimpse of the true person that he is.  We had a few of those special moments yesterday.  I was so glad that I was home because I got to see him tease one of the caretakers.  I don't remember the exact circumstance, but after dad said something to her, he looked at me and winked with a grin on his face.  It was vintage dad!  I knew he knew that it would get her goat and he knew very well at that moment what he was doing.  There was another time that he was asking me about the world today.  He was t

Feb. 24, 2011 No School again!

Good Afternoon!  I thought we would at least have school!  We have ice today and it was slick but it turned out they cancelled after a 2 hour delay.  I wouldn't want the students having accidents.  I didn't get on yesterday because we did have school and that was wonderful but it is so hard to get caught up with them now.  I have finally had a chance to grade everything and record all my grades that I wish I had more time with the students.  Go figure!  There's a few of us at school. We still have some snow and the rain and sleet with the cooler temperature just made a mess.  I'm making waffles for my husband.  He always gives me a "snookie gram" to remind me that he is running out of them. So I am running back and forth as I write this so I can complete that too.  I know that multi tasking is not a good thing, but I can't help myself. I was so excited Tues. night because I had a chance to Skype my son-in-law, daughter and grandson.  It was so much fun!

Feb. 22, 2011 No School Today

I was all set to finish up our personal narratives with the students today and we are closed due to snow.  It was beautiful coming into town this morning.  The trees were covered with snow and well...the roads had ice under the snow so it was a little tricky.  I'm at school, but I'm free to go home whenever I want to.  With the second trimester coming to a close, I decided to stay and work on my grades.  I've been grading papers and thought about my blog and I was eager to write!  This is a great thing for me.  I hope I keep this enthusiasm. For one thing I keep my daughter in mind as I write and I feel as if I am talking to her. That keeps me going. Time does get away.  There is so much I could be working on at home but I have smooth jazz music on and I'm working here with no interruptions. I even have had some conversations with parents on the email already.  I emailed the parents to let them know about the assignment I gave the students on Friday to let them know t

2/21/11 President's Day

OK, Here goes.  This is the first day I have ever blogged.  Well I have lost what I wrote once already! So I'm writing for the second time!  I know that it means prehaps this will be better than the first!  I give credit to my daughter, Mrs. Gaby and Mrs. Ayres for their encouragement to try this.  Mrs. Ayres has a blogspot and I have been reading it and wanted to write on it but have not had the nerve.  I decided that this March was a good time to start.  There is a challenge to write every day and in order to do it, I had to have a blog.  So here goes nothing! Mrs. Gaby started one some time ago and  my daughter did too.  So daughter, this one's, for you!  I have no idea what I am doing but you will be the first to see because I am not inviting anyone else at this time.  I will go a little more public when I feel more confident! :o) It wasn't as hard to set up as I thought it would be.  But navigating is a little tricky.  I'm home today and working on grading and ma
