March 2, 2011 SOL What a day!

This is the first day of my new classes for the third trimester!  It is always crazy, fun, exciting and hectic.  I love to meet the new faces and learn to know new students. But it can be a challenge.  I'm sure they are more hesitate about coming to my class than I am of meeting them.
Every class has a personality just like people. Each grade level gives new insight and confusion about the adolescent culture. I think that is what I like so much about the middle school grades.  I have the opportunity to teach everyone and find out so much about them.  They are open and honest about what they think.  It may not be how I would say it or express it but it is the way they feel.
I still have my sixth grade language arts class that I began the year with. I love that class. I am beginning to really know them, whether they know it or not.  I watch them and have chances to get a glimpse of who they really are. How they interact with others in the class and with their friends.  I wonder what I was like at that age? I have my thoughts, but do I really know?  Ok, until tomorrow...

  1. It takes a special person to live in that middle school world. Thank you for taking them on. Looking forward to learning about your kids during this month.
