Student Slices March 13, 2012 Testing

Today while Testing was going on I got to go in the cafeteria and color, read, go in the big gym, and do puzzles. While we were in the big gym everybody got scooters and we tied rope to them and had people pull us around and we ended up tieing 4 scooters together and that was fun the back 3 scooters almost ran into the wall. The next thing we did was play capture the flag but before that I got a humongous ball out and started to roll it around and chasing it that was a pretty fun day that day.

My class is preparing to celebrate the end of the slice of life challenge tomorrow.   We’ll discuss how it felt to write every day and I’ll have them write down what really mattered to them. A reflection. Then they will have a chance to eat slices of things we chose to bring for tomorrow.   Things like: slices of pizza, cake, oranges, apples, kiwi, bananas, and pineapple. Life is like that.   It is mixed up and crazy. You can’t count on everything being alike or the same.   We would get bored if it was always the same. Slice of Life Tuesday 2nd one April 12, 2011 Persuasive Research continued

Today I feel somewhat overwhelmed.   We have less than 8 weeks of school left and so much to do.   I am working on a persuasive research piece with my students and today we began reviewing taking notes, paraphrasing and summarizing.   I gave the students some information about their topics so they could take some notes today and possibly tonight so I can help them with their notes tomorrow. I plan to review bibliography so if they are researching, they won’t forget to get the information they need for their bibliography.   It has helped students in the past; otherwise they get to the end and have forgotten where their information came from.   I give them a worksheet to keep track of the information in the correct order. Most of the students have chosen within about eight different topics.   They seem to be pretty passionate about their topic as I discuss it with them.
