Is this July???Where did June Go?

Time has a way of going by too quickly. Now that I retired. It really shouldn't be that different because i am used to being off in the summer, but since I retired from teaching, it has been one thing after another. 

I just returned from staying with my mother.  It was a wonderful visit. I even had the opportunity to spend time with my grandson and see my daughter and son-in-law.  He rode over 15 miles in the heat on Sunday eve.  At least it wasn't as bad as it had been. 

Thank goodness for the relief from the 100 degree temperatures. I will be recognized at our school board meeting tonight and I'm loking forward to that.

I am reorganizing my basement since I brought home my "stuff" from school from the last 17 years in the same classroom. My daughter gave me a workshop online and at first I wasn't so happy but it really has been a Godsend.  Very helpful!

Rode 6 miles in town last Sat. morning before I went to see my mom.  The storms had our electricity and the phone down for a bit before that. I'll put a picture on us riding!

As I lay in my bed yesterday,  I could hear the wind. It made me think about what I know about the wind. I can see it, I can hear it, it can touch me, but I can't touch it! There's, the cold blustery wind in Winter, The warm Summer breeze that goes by The casual breeze that carries the smoke from the fires of leaves burning in the Fall. Those are the “fun” winds. June 21, 2011 First Day of Summer

First I have to make a few comments about a workshop I went to yesterday. It was the All Write Institute and it was so inspiring!  It's like a breath of fresh air and like the first day of spring and summer, a new beginning! It makes me feel ready to begin again.  With the Keynote, I listened to six speakers.  Some of course were the same speakers because I liked Jeff Anderson so much, I went back to hear him twice.  I felt he could help me with what I wanted to learn at this time to help my students the most at this time. With that said, summer brings in things we don't have to do; we don't have to wear winter coats, no worry about snow or shoveling, the lack of ice on the roads makes it so much easier to drive and easier to walk, we don't freeze and have cold breezes that make it hard to breathe in the cold, no fear of sickness like colds or flu, and finally we feel more like being outside (well I don't like cold) so I stay inside more in the winter.
